This is the 76th in my series of Forgotten Books. I'm not quite sure how I feel about Robert Holdstock's Mythago Wood. At a recent science fiction evening at the British Library, Brian Aldiss was asked to name what he felt was the most significant SF book of the 20th century and he immediately named Mythago Wood. I first encountered the Matter of Britain through bowdlerized versions of the Arthurian cycle, then through Howard Pyle and, at last, Malory. Mythago Wood is one of my favorites, so I'll probably enjoy The Secret Place, too. Mythago Wood George Huxley was obsessed with the nearby Ryhope Wood.
